Not quite sure why they needed to transmit Jessica Yellin’s hologram to CNN’s election center in NY but it sure looked cool. Vizrt and SportVu made this possible with the help of forty-four cameras and twenty computers.

Cameras on Jessica’s side were positioned at every angle and synched with cameras at CNN to give the 360 degree perspective. While twenty computers crunch the data, it doesn’t actually transmit the hologram in front of Wolf. Once the video feeds are merged together the TV viewers see the ‘hologram’. Either way, game on for the holographic correspondents. We’ll be installing a holodeck at Twiistup 5.

More about how this went down at Gizmodo.

A few months back we shared a Twiistid find in NYC called Grand Opening. This space at 139 Norfolk Street promised to create new entertainment offerings from time to time to keep the space fresh and timely. At the time of our report, the space was dubbed ‘Pong’ and was dedicated to table tennis. On September 17, the space was transformed into a drive-in movie theater or as close as you can get to one when you’re smack dab in the middle of an urban metropolis. DRV-IN offers 2 shows per night (7p and 10p) and cars that seat up to 6 passengers. The cost is $75 per show regardless of how many passengers. If you don’t have 6 you may want to snag some people off of the busy Manhattan street to get your cost down to $12.50 per passenger. The space is equipped with starry skies and some foliage (see potted oak tree pict). Passengers are treated to films that start in the 1960’s and progress chronologically each night. Four decades of cinematic wonderment for your viewing pleasure. One more thing (thanks Jobs), they have a full concession stand as well!

UPDATE: October 27-31 catch classic horror films under the full moon as thick fog creeps around you and your guests.

GrandOpening could be yours for a month, or two, or three.
GrandOpening might be different the next time you come by.

Imagine a space that changes it’s offering/focus every 3 months. That’s exactly what Grand Opening sets out to do. Currently the 400 square foot space is home to Pong. This three-month initiative provides locals with the opportunity to engage in table tennis.

Prior to Pong it was ‘Barns for Sale’ which was a restoration and relocation project for original timberframe barns and materials in Delaware River Valley. Canadian brothers Ben and Hall Smyth invite you to 139 Norfolk Street New York, NY to check it out.
